Glossary

Private Industry - Defense

Aerospace companies involved in military aviation, like in commercial aviation, develop two classes of aircraft: trainer/fighter/attack aircraft powered by one or two engines, and tanker/transport/bomber aircraft powered by two or more engines. The customers for these aircraft are the armed forces of the United States and other nations.

Note: In the United States, employment requirements to work on defense-related programs generally include U.S. citizenship and the appropriate security clearances.
