Grants play an important role in advancing our society. They are resources set aside for those who can improve human conditions, add to the state of knowledge, and have a positive impact on everything from the environment to the technologies we depend upon everyday. Engineers are in some of the best positions to take on these problem-solving roles and should be aware of the many ways grants can utilize their creativity and experience.

In this module, we've covered the basics of grantseeking. We reviewed the different types of grants and the many ways engineers can use them. We discussed the importance of refining and clearly communicating solutions for problems. And at the core of our discussion, we examined management plans, methodologies, time frames and budgets. In the end, grantseeking is really nothing more than building a really good plan - one that is cost-effective and efficient.

What's your idea? You don't have to be rich and powerful to make a difference in this world. You just need to be able to communicate it well in a grant proposal.
