ASME
is committed to helping colleges of engineering
guide the development of students and teach the
principles of engineering practice and professionalism
without overburdening an already full undergraduate
curriculum. The PPC Online is meant to complement
the formal college/university engineering curriculum
and aid engineering faculty in better preparing
graduates for entry into and early advancement
in the engineering profession.
Connection
to ABET Criteria
The
modules cover a diverse array of topics, many
corresponding to the ABET
accreditation criteria, designed to be suitable
for assignment wherever appropriate in the engineering
curriculum. In particular, many of the modules
contain content that may be used to help satisfy
the ABET criteria on program outcomes and assessment
(Criterion 3, a-k) as indicated in the table below.
The modules may be assigned as reading with follow-up
quizzes as assessment.

Faculty
Resources
Among
the faculty resources envisioned are downloadable
presentations for introducing classroom discussion
of the module topics, Powerpoint versions of the
narrative, and exercises and quizzes.
We
need the help of experienced faculty! The
module contributors are experts in their fields
and
not
all are engineering educators. ASME is in need
of faculty resources - guidelines and suggestions
for implementation of the modules in engineering
courses - and invites experienced faculty to contribute
their perspective and knowledge to help develop
the PPC Online faculty resources.
Furthermore, we welcome suggestions for curriculum
additions and enhancements, and encourage you
to complete the online feedback form available
on the web site.
